I might have written something for [personal profile] sheafrotherdon's Just Propose Already!! festival, in case anyone wanted to go have a look. Really, you should boogie on over there anyway; there's some fairly adorable stuff for your reading pleasure.

(And yes, I know it's not the 29th anymore. Hush.)

Spoilers: general Season 4 to date
Notes: Originally written for the Ancient History Challenge at [community profile] sga_flashfic. (It seems, however, that I wasn't quite clear on the posting scheme, so it's not over there anymore. Oops?) Title borrowed from Keats.
Summary: It's not long before the stories start.

Finally saw it. Do I even need to suggest there will be spoilers?

Now I can go find out what other people thought. Fandom! Whee!

Note to self: red wine and brownies = red wine and chocolate and sugar = a really good way to get a headache going.

Ow.

So worth it, though. I spent the afternoon marathoning SG:A Season 2 with [personal profile] krisomniac   (who is just as fantastically fun as you'd think) and having a blast. I hadn't seen most of the eps in a very long time, and it's amazing the stuff that strikes a chord in hindsight. For instance...

Tonight, I watched Stardust.

Now I need to go reread. Or maybe sleep. Although... what I really want to do is watch it again.

Tomorrow, I will bake gingerbread cookies for the neighborhood and do writerly things. Yay for vacation.

Just a quick series of missing bits from The Pegasus Project before I go back to answering my lovely prompts. My apologies if this ground has already been covered; I've been very bad with the reading lately.

Spoilers: The Pegasus Project
Feedback: Will be hugged like a puppy. Even if it bites.

Here lies the first of the prompt responses. [profile] docmichelle asked for John, Rodney, and kitten sneezes. I bow happily to such devious devices.

This is for the Atlantis Back to Basics Challenge.

Okay, so, explanation time. See, I started on my challenge response, and had all these wonderful ideas, and then they spawned more ideas, and before I knew it there was a stream full of leaping salmonfics in my head. Of course, this happened when I had the least time ever to devote to writing, and at some point it became apparent I could not do that story justice in time.

Thus, I hereby present my own placeholder fic. The real, serious, I-mean-it-now response (which, incidentally, is actually what was requested, complete with bugs) may not be along until next week, but in the meantime, please accept my apologies and this crumb. It’s… almost what you asked for. Really.

This a-way to the fic that isn't. )

Hmm. Let's see if this solves the issues.  For reference's sake, the first portion is here and the last is here.

stillane: (Default)

No, I'm not dead. Really. Eventually, I'll get around to detailing all the wonders and terrors of the last week (lots of the latter, but ending in the former), but for now, I bring fic.

This is the one that ate my brain. Long, long ago, this was my very first adventure with Rodney and John. A few people said quite rightly, "What?! That's it? You just stop it there? No, no, missy. Get your ass back here and explain." The better part of a year later, I finally have an answer for them.

Fandom: SGA

Pairing: McKay/Sheppard

Rating: NC-17

Spoilers: The Lost Boys, Coup D’etat.

Feedback: Will be hugged like a puppy. Even if it bites.

Acknowlegements: Huge thanks goes to [personal profile] ignipes, [personal profile] 20thcenturyvole, and [personal profile] enname for betaing this beast. The readable bits in here are their doing. The ones that are less so are entirely mine.

Summary: It's a delicate balance.

Notes: So, this one should be subtitled ‘Rodney McKay and the Planet of the Pot Smokers’. That would give the unfair impression that it’s going to be silly and light-hearted, however, and this one is a little too dark for that. Not dark!fic (I don't think?), but sunshine and roses it ain’t. If you need further proof, look to the drabbly offshoot predecessor.

The title refers to an insurance term relating losses suffered to the amount of coverage in effect. For warnings, please see the end of Part I.

ETA: For the much prettier website version, use this link: (Burning more attractively)

I’m starting to do that twitchy thing you do when you haven’t actively finished anything in a while. This is barely long enough to be a ficlet, but finished it is.

Fandom: SGA
Pairing: McKay/Sheppard
Rating: PG-13
Spoilers: Not a one.
Feedback: Will be hugged like a puppy. Even if it bites.
Summary: Timing is everything.

Fragmentary )
stillane: (Dangerous. Really.)

It is done. *dance of joy* Will I probably continue to fiddle with it? The sun still rises, right?

Fandom: SGA
Pairing: McKay/Sheppard, with a few other cameos
Rating: NC-17
Spoilers: Not a one.

Feedback: Will be hugged like a puppy. Even if it bites.
Summary: The smart ones never play fair.

Cohesion )

Because [profile] theantimodel is both terribly cool and swifter than the bunny, you now have the option of reading this in a much nicer form. Go here instead, and avoid all the hopscotching. Unless you like that sort of thing. ETA: The tech troubles continue. I've been messing with it for a while now, and Cohesion's website incarnation is... not well. This is the week from hell, but I promise to eventually have it back in working order. In the meantime, please read the lj conglomeration with my apologies.
stillane: (Pathos)

This is another one that sat on my laptop for a couple months in skeletal form, waiting for the right bits to make themselves known. Last night, they finally did. I blame the Barenaked Ladies.

It is unbetad, so any mistakes you catch will win you cookies and admiration, as well as the satisfaction of getting me to fix them. (And to everyone who read the personal drama post of earlier this week, fear not. Everyone survives.)

Fandom: SGA
Pairing: McKay/Sheppard
Rating: NC-17
Spoilers: Hmm… references to Trinity, Aurora/The Hive, Epiphany, and Grace Under Pressure
Feedback: Will be hugged like a puppy. Even if it bites.
Summary: Finding the words.

Linguistics )

stillane: (Observation)

One of these days I’ll write a flat-out fluffy bit of porn and the world will be shocked. This is not that day.

But it is closer.

Fandom: SGA
Pairing: McKay/Sheppard
Rating: NC-17
Spoilers: None
Feedback: Will be hugged like a puppy. Even if it bites.

Summary: For [livejournal.com profile] the_moonmoth . As requested, John’s side of the events of The Hearth and the Salamander.

Author’s Notes: [livejournal.com profile] the_moonmoth  wanted to know what it looked like from John’s side of the street. So did I. The title is once again from Bradbury, specifically ‘Fahrenheight 451’.

The Sieve and the Sand )

stillane: (Jailbird John)

I should be doing paleontology. Instead, I’m doing John and Rodney. (A girl can dream, anyway.) Bad me.

Fandom: SGA
Pairing: McKay/Sheppard
Rating: NC-17
Spoilers: None
Feedback: Will be hugged like a puppy. Even if it bites.

Summary: Unmitigated porn inspired by Danvers. Quite short. The porn, that is. Not Danvers.

Author’s Notes: The title and Rodney’s moment of literary introspection are brought to you by Bradbury. The brilliant opening line was put forth by Danvers ([livejournal.com profile] sdraevn ) in the hopes of inspiring fic. It worked. If you like this, it’s her fault. If you don’t, it’s mine. I reserve the right to tinker. (Incidentally, she used the line herself in her latest fic, and to better effect. Hers even has plot. Go see it at her journal. Shoo.)

The Hearth and the Salamander )

Edited to add: This one now has a companion, this time from John's perspective. If you're interested, go here.

stillane: (Regret)

See, I told you there'd be something SGA-oriented around here eventually.

Yeah, so... this one had a mind of its own even more than most. I wanted porn. It didn't. It won. Oh well.

Just a little post-Epiphany tag that's been sitting mostly completed on my computer for the last month. I finally found a way to make it stop, and thus here it is. Author's notes (if you're interested in hearing me whine a little) are at the end.

Fandom: SGA
Pairing: McKay/Sheppard
Rating: PG-13
Spoilers: Epiphany
Summary: Time starts moving again.

Revelations )

stillane: (Weary.)

Okay, let me preface this by saying this one is a little bit... odd. I blame it on the fact that I haven't slept in a few days. Just a little post-Grace Under Pressure snippet, nothing too grand or monumental. As always, feedback is appreciated above all things.

Fandom: SGA
Pairing: McKay/Sheppard
Rating: PG-13
Spoilers: Grace Under Pressure
Summary: John makes his peace, and Rodney finds some.

Undertow )

stillane: (Wish.)

Oh, god. I'm not sane. It's four in the morning, I've just been driven from my room twice by false-alarm fire drills, and I've got so darn much work to do I should be shot. So, what am I doing? I'm writing fic. Really, though, I can explain. I finally got back to my joyous campus connection, and thus finally saw The Hive. Haven't gotten to much of the fics yet, which I'm sure are marvelous, but I want to post my version before I get to second guessing it. As such, it is unbeta'd. Sorry. Constructive criticism is, as always, greatly appreciated. I reserve the right to revise this puppy til kingdom come, when I'm back in my right mind. Author's notes are at the end, by the way.

Fandom: SGA
Pairing: McKay/Sheppard
Rating: PG-13
Spoilers: The Hive
Summary: What came during and after. Or at least what should have.

Apitherapy )

stillane: (Weary.)

So, you know that story I was whining about last night? Long about the crack of dawn, it decided it wanted to be written after all. Apparently my muse has no respect for my continuing efforts to become diurnal. If the rest of the world would just go to sleep at 6am and wake up at noon I'd be in great shape. As I don't foresee that one happening any time soon, I'm screwed. Anyway, here's the weird little thing that clammered to be written. I have no beta, and thus feel the need to beg pitiously. Anybody willing to read over this one critically before I try posting it to a comm? It's under 2,000 words, McShep in nature, and a follow up to Trinity. I'll probably change a million things before I'm happy with it, in any case. Even if you'd rather not officially beta, all comments are appreciated.

Fandom: SGA
Pairing: McShep, although lots of people show up in a non-romantic context
Rating: PG-13? A tiny bit of cussing. You've heard worse, trust me.
Genre: Drama, character piece
Spoilers: Trinity, vague season two-ish bits
Summary: What you miss when you're looking.
