Everything is Sherlock and nothing hurts.
Jan. 3rd, 2012 12:25 amOh. My. God. That. I.
I went back and forth between squeaky noises and breathless silence so many times I have vocal whiplash. Damn. Just... just... yeah. I can forgive them the hiatus now. More coherent thoughts later, maybe, but not yet. I have to go watch it again. Right now.
My god, this show.
O_O
If there are comments here, though, maybe assume they have spoilers, yeah?

Date: 2012-01-03 07:38 am (UTC)Yep, Irene ultimately loses, but... Well, it's mostly that she loses because she's too much like Sherlock. The reason that he gives for her losing is basically the same reason he lost the round immediately preceding that last one (there are many rounds of winning and losing for each of them here), which he is not at all willing to admit. Which is, really, the same bullshit that Moriarty called him on at the end of TGG, although Irene lets him slide on it. And then he pretty much proves that he is aware that it's bullshit, too, at the very end. SO MANY LAYERS. Eee.
So, yeah. This series may, in fact, kill me dead. *g*

Date: 2012-01-07 02:04 am (UTC)I am still just a little stuck on how it is that the 19th century version can be so less misogynistic in terms of 'independent woman' did not even remotely translate as (and putting aside discussions of whether or not the role of dominatrix reflects liberty or playing into the patriarchy) the courtesan - gaining power through sex and the bedroom rather than direct means. Nevermind that I actually really liked Lara Pulver and what she did with it.
That and the whole point of him losing in the first place is to show just the same thing ... much like the penultimate round of losing in the episode, but without then turning around and having her entirely undermined by something she appears to have known ... and what? Makes the mistake of wanting to mimic him? Yeh, it loses its sting. In the original yeh, she makes the mistake with revealing what she cares for and, well then makes good and gets the hell out of dodge without needing to rely on half the british goverment or Sherlock. It is in fact, the rub and makes me want to flail around .. gyah.
So much good and yet so much damn bad. *beats head on desk*
Don't worry, I have this reaction to most things :P Apparently I can contain multitudes.

Date: 2012-01-03 10:43 pm (UTC)The layers! EEE. There is just so much going on, and so much to pay attention to, and it's all the best kind of brain candy. *happy sigh*

Date: 2012-01-03 10:47 pm (UTC)It's... probably for the best that I live in a stand-alone house these days. I could really quickly gain a reputation in the next few weeks as the weird neighbor girl who makes funny sounds late at night. O_o
