Am back from the Ancestral Home. Have no water due to pipes having burst within the boiler room from cold. Want a shower. Apartment smells like bar due to neighbor's refusal to stop smoking inside, despite landlord's requests. Braved slick roads again only to find local-est Chinese food place closed.

Life hard.

On the plus side, happy-you're-home cats are great, brownies are going to happen, and I intend to call in dead to work tomorrow. There will be laziness, and flist-reading, and fic. *happy sigh*

All of that suuuucks. Except the cats and the brownies, obviously. I like the way you say "brownies are going to happen" -- like chocolate is a force of nature. Because, really, it kind of is.

I think I would be so much more upset if I didn't have the luxury of pretty much spending tomorrow in bed. (Also, chocolate. Yay for chocolate.) As it stands, I've decided I took a left turn somewhere on the way north and wound up in a sitcom, and therefor cannot take anything too seriously. I'm melting snow and nomming on brownies and thinking about queuing up Hot Fuzz, so things have improved dramatically. The maintenance guy has now informed us that the pipes just have to thaw out. It's still in the single digits outside, so I'm not so much holding my breath on that one. *g*

As for my first fandom... Depends on how you define "part of." I can remember writing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fic in my head as a kid, but that was, you know, a fandom of one. I started out online reading in The Sentinel and The Magnificent Seven, and my first actual "Hey, other people have read this!" fic was M7, but I'd have to say that I didn't hit the full, interactive fandom experience until SGA. I'm, um, kind of desperately grateful for that, because I so wasn't ready. There would have been badfic committed. Lots and lots of irredeemable badfic. I have the (frighteningly detailed) outlines for the stuff I would have written in high school to prove it. *g*

My middle-school fanfiction.net account is still active. At the time, in the fandom I was in, it was good fic, and I was a BNF, but... nope, definitely still badfic.
