Not exactly breathing.

Meep.
I went with the MacBook (which I keep wanting to type as 'McBook').
I have just made the single most expensive purchase of my life - not including the education which will consign me to 'ancestor who bankrupted the family line' status for my descendants. This equates to approximately five of the paychecks which I do not yet have, seeing as I am still job hunting. This means that I am currently staring at my screen with wide, slightly stunned eyes and wondering what the hell I have just done.
In my defense, it is very pretty.
Meep.
Thank you all for your tech advice and happy thoughts. It seemed like a good plan, since I'll need something capable of graphic work for the thesis and the paper which might result, and these seem to possess growth potential. Plus, they are said to fly like the wind.
Still. Ouch.

Date: 2006-04-13 01:42 am (UTC)Just like don't breathe. Or think, or even look too hard at anything. Smell, touch and enjoy the pretty. Eventually your wallet will stop bleeding ... someday.

Date: 2006-04-13 02:51 am (UTC)Honestly, I'm doing better now. The accursed issue of shipping means that it will be at least three days until I get to lapse into the 'ooo' zone. In the meantime, the wallet remains bandaged. *g*

Date: 2006-04-13 03:45 am (UTC)Seems like quite the awesome little device - I must admit, I am teh jealous. Had my eye on either one of those or an iMac for some time, but my wallet cannot sustain the damage, as of now.
But they're supposed to be soooooo nice to use...
*pouts* / *cheers*

Date: 2006-04-13 04:35 am (UTC)My wallet cannot sustain the damage, either. (And yes, commence puns now.) The problem is, I really can't afford to shell out the cash now for something transitory and then wind up replacing it in a couple years. This baby needs to last for a while. *g* So, spend now, hopefully save later. Maybe? Plus, the parentals are in a strangely accepting phase at the moment. Dad is not handling the daughter-on-her-own thing so well. I have a feeling he's really going to freak(and in his case, that means go quiet) if I wind up not at home this summer. It's kind of a repeat of the 'eight hours from home' college transition, methinks.
So, all of that aside, I should be conversive by early next week. Well, at least technically capable of being so. The impending thesis doom might prevent lots of interaction until the 28th. Ohmygod. Fifteen days. Eek.
I'll be around at some point, at least. See you then.

Date: 2006-04-13 04:47 am (UTC)Aaaaaaand I look forward to spotting you, and may be tempted to pester for a few minutes (to say 'ello) if I don't hear from yas. :)
And for what it's worth, 15 days is 1,296,000 seconds. Much bigger number. *g* (You'll be fine! :))

Date: 2006-04-13 06:46 am (UTC)In other news, don't skimp on the warrantees. I speak from personal experience here, in that if I hadn't had one in early January I'd be kerayzee by now, and not in the good way. Like dressed in socks and locked in the Big House way.

Date: 2006-04-14 05:59 am (UTC)Not surprisingly, I like how your mind works. 'Pennies per use' is much better than the original price tag. I think I've already got enough planned activities stored up (editing The Teeth of Doom pictures - again - and typing, and someday catching up on all the fandom that's passed me by) to cut it down significantly. *g*
Plus, I can go back to poking you.
Also: That dressed in socks thing sounds like fun. I think I'll do that this weekend. *g*
