Just saw Stranger Than Fiction.
Have decided that Will Ferrell in serious, sad, solemn mode may be the most sorrowful thing on Earth. (The phenomenon causes alliteration, even.) He's kind of adorable throughout, in that puppy-outside-in-the-rain way. I spent half the movie making tragic eyes at my sister and the other half uttering pathetic little whimpery sounds. (In related news, my sister spent half the movie making tragic eyes back at me; her boyfriend spent all of it silently mocking us. A good time was had by all.)
It's basically the better part of two hours (presumably; I didn't clock it) of Will Ferrell being both sweetly charming and horrifyingly doomed, all with more meta than you can shake a stick at. Presuming you are with me among the very slow and haven't already done so, go rent this one. It's very worth it.
This coming, mind you, from someone who cannot generally stand Will Ferrell.
Somewhere, I have a friend laughing right now. She told me years ago to see Elf, and I still haven't done it. I might just have to.
