Me. Again.

Hiya.

Just another quick update for the curious. For those that haven't heard yet, the Date of Doom got pushed back to the 5th of May. (And please forget any disparaging remarks I might ever have made about my department. I don't remember saying anything bad, because I generally love them all immeasurably, but just in case.) I should finally have a version of the intro that doesn't curl my toes with embarrassment tonight, so that's progress.

The infamous Cloud documentary is on TV, and I'm remembering just how much I miss the whole horse thing. Not just the riding, although that's in there, but hanging around them in general. I miss grooming and having the feel go softer with successive brushes. I miss hot, grassy breath on the back of my neck. I miss the way my voice changes the second I step into the place, without any conscious choice, and the stillness you only find on a lazy afternoon in the barn. Once this graduation/job hunting/application for continuing life advancement bit is over with, I might just need to go horse-venture hunting.

In tangentially related news, what do you all know about Houston? There's an off chance I might wind up there next year, and I'm curious. In my perfect world, this time next year I'm curled up on the couch of my loft, the golden drool monkey next to me, writing staggering amounts of fic in between my fulfilling duties for the nonprofit org that I'm currently interviewing for. Commence pipedreaming now. *g*

This is another on the list of million good-but-time-consuming things going on at the moment. There's also a concert coming up next weekend, and the usual finals season insanity to contend with, and I'm still trying to figure out how this moving thing is going to work. (Also, Dad is scheduled for the surgery on the 5th of June, and everything seems to be going okay on that front, for those that wondered.)

Bullet points to consider:

1. Dr. Who is interesting. Damnit.

2. I do not talk like the crazy lady on the other night's What Not To Wear. If she happened to occasionally use some of my customary style, well, that's just because... Yeah, okay, I don't have a defense.

Crazy Lady: something which would be endearingly quirky if she were not loony as an eclipse
M: You know, she sounds just like -
Me: Shut up.
M: But you did just say that, like, five minutes ago. Not even. Your exact speech pattern. It's almost -
Me: Shut. Up.

Only your true friends will tell you you talk like a nutcase.

3. There are no cats in America and the streets are paved with cheese. There. I said it.

In conclusion: Gah. But in a good way. *g*

'kay, in utterly uncoordinated bullets because I am weak like that:

1. you are adorable and I squoosh you like the loony you are *squoosh*
2. I missed the What Not To Wear! Was it good, aside from said loonification? (Who was meaner this week?)
3. Horses. That is all.
4. I wisht I could help you with Huston. The loft idea sounds great, though. *pipedreams along in harmony*
5. [insert whichever choir equivalent exists for "break a leg!" here] And have fun with the Verdi. Also Lex.
6. Cheese is good. Jalapeno cheese is even better.
7. Luck to you and yours in the weeks to come, hon. *hugs*

1. Yes, it is.

2. Ha! :P
(though I get that too, sometimes)

3. You know, thanks to that little quote, I got that song stuck in my head. And believe it or not, Google does not seem to have the lyrics, anywhere. WTF. I may have to dig out the old VHS just to satiate my curiosity now.

Shhhhh with the horse missing. I have been trying to deal with it for the last 7 years and it isn't going away. I miss being butted with a nose, heck I even miss being stepped on because the horse has decided that standing on me is the best way to make sure I don't do anything rash. Dammit. Now I miss riding as well.

I know nowt about Houston. Actually I know less about Houston than I know about cheese, Dr. Who, cats and What Not To Wear all mixed together. What a hell of a sandwhich.

Hurray for a pushed back deadline!

I know nothing about Houston. Except the obvious, that is.

1. Oh, yes. And adorable.

3. Then what the heck was that furry thing sleeping on my face when I woke up this morning?

*squooshes you back*

In some particular order, but scattered presentation:

The What Not To Wear in question was apparently a rerun, but the new one was interesting. The woman in that second ep was a preschool something or other, and M. - who's in the education biz herself - declared that there needed to be some adult time in this lady's world. She kind of freaked me out with the exuberance. *shudder* They got the pink away from her, at least. And the plastic. Yes, the plastic. Ew. The meanness... they weren't so much mean as terrified.

Yes, horses, indeed.

Thanks for the choral luck. We might need it, given that there's 'The Harmony of Morning' breathing down our neck. We are not so much fond of that one. It's the sort wherein the sum total doesn't really make up for the inherent ick of the separate parts. *shrug* We'll see.

Mmmm. Cheese.

Thank you muchly for the general luck as well. Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to work I go. *g*

1. I am using episodes as rewards for completed tasks. Or, alternately, when my brain is too fried for further productivity. I'm liking them too much for my own good.

2. I bite my thumb at you, sir. *g*

3. Hahahaha! Yes! Share the psychosis. (And if you're truly curious, I might actually have the song around here. Don't ask.)

Also, I am endlessly amused by the fact that there's an honest to god argument going on in the hall outside my door about the relative merits of the various Mrs. Henry VIIIs. I love my school.

On the subject of the critters that shan't be named: I know! It's crazy the things that you miss. And they always give you that look when they manage to step on you, like they're innocent as the driven snow.

I like the sound of that sandwich. All the basic food groups, right there. *g*

First off: I love the icon. Even if it is a lie. *g*

No one seems to know much about Houston, which makes me question its existance. Perhaps it's like Brigadoon. Only, less green and with more boots.

1. He is! I'm catching the eps in weird orders, but the adorability is overwhelming. The sudden moments of darkness, though, are disturbingly hot. I watched the Christmas Invasion the other night, and the "I'm that kind of man"... Yeah.

3. A figment of your imagination, I'm sure. Or maybe a tribble. *g*

I have found that whenever someone says "don't ask" it's usually an enticement to do so. ;)

And it's all about Catherine of Aragon.

Well, you see, there's this one particular section (about a bar and a half) of the Verdi Requiem that is absolutely gorgeous, but... From the very first time we sang through it, I knew it was incredibly familiar. I might have spent more than one rehearsal muttering to myself, humming a little, and just generally giving off the loco vibes. And then, of course, came the evening when, in a moment of dead silence while we regrouped for the next section, I might have cried out, "That's it! It's American Tail! Ha!"

*headdesk* From there, I pirated my way to much of the soundtrack, and it's reeeeally pretty.

And why am I not at all surprised that you have a favorite? *g*

I feel your... well, not pain. But something. I do the "random moment of realisation!" stuff all the time. At present I'm trying to place the actress who played Lily's boyfriend's mother on Crossing Jordan last night, and I have the distinct feeling it's going to come to me at some inoppurtune time. Of course the only one likely to hear my random outburst is the cat, and she's used to it. *evil cackles*

And of course I do ;) I mean, c'mon. Spanish warrior queen with flowing red tresses and a fiery personality to match. *nods affirmatively*
