Okay. So. Got a Star Trek question for you all:

Is this a spoiler? I don't actually know. Very likely, however. That is not the question, btw. )

In other news: meme! Appropriately scifi flavored meme, even!

Inspired by Doctor Who's "Turn Left:" Pick one of my stories and tell me a point in the tale that you'd change -- something tiny or big -- and I'll tell you how that one difference would have altered the course of the entire story.

Everything in my arsenal can be found here, if you wanted to play.

Am I just braindead due to the hell that has been this morning after failing to sleep last night, or does this really say what I think it says? That seems rather... abrupt. Did everybody else already know about this? Is there a vid exodus occurring already? Huh.
stillane: (Default)
How awesome was that?!

Okay, I lied. I have more. Please do not assume anything in here will be new or different, though, because I am possibly the last human on Earth to join this party, and I have no doubt all the cool stuff has already been discussed.

I do have one caveat, though, and it's not about the movie itself.

*deep breath*

Okay. I feel better. Rant concluded, and we now return you to your regularly scheduled dose of squee.

Seriously, how terrific was that movie?

Because today - and really, the majority of this week - has completely sucked, I give you this:

The second half is actually fairly depressing, but the first half... Oh, the first half. You haven't lived until you've stood in a very small office with a bunch of people with doctorates in the sciences who are flat-out crying with mirth.

I love my job.

Coincidentally enough, I've been planning for days to post something about my utterly abysmal response time to comments lately. Heh.

What I was planning to post was something along the lines of:

OH MY GOD LIFE. Is there someone I can tag to step in for a minute? I promise I'll come back and relieve you as soon as I've had a breather. And possibly a nap. In the last month, I have...

Yes, it's a list. I like lists. )

Anyway, feedback. For what it's worth, my position is as follows:

I like feedback. )

All of which pretty much comes down to this:

I <3 every last awesome, fascinating, sweet, never-a-dull-moment one of you. Just so you know.

Pairing: Arthur/Merlin
Rating: PG
Spoilers: 1x04, slightly
Notes: Beta'd (a while ago, because I am slow like a glacier) by the awesome [ profile] tacittype , [ profile] olivia_circe , and [ profile] kageygirl . Any remaining moments of oops are entirely my own.

Summary courtesy of [ profile] kageygirl : It might be good to be the king, but some days it sucks to be the prince.

Okay first, note to self: Bailing out from what looks to be a truly spectacular horsey meltdown induced by rapidly approaching snowmobiles is a protocol best enacted when one does not have the combo of muddy, slick ground and a trick knee going for one. Just so you know. Ow.

Second: The WIP Meme! Which is to say, I've got kind of a lot of them, at the moment. Also, I'm bad at keeping it to just a sentence.
I'd rather be sitting on a beach somewhere with my laptop. I'd totally be willing to deal with sand in the keys, even. )

I think that's most of them. The ones that are vaguely coherent, anyway, and not just scraps here and there. I'm not counting the one with the goats, because it's actually done, with the exception of a little editing. Provided finals season stops thumping me into the ground, it will even see the light of day soon. \o/

And now I have to go write about osteoarthritis while wondering vaguely what the cartilage in my knee looks like these days. Life isn't fair. *sigh*

This is has been a week of VROOM, full of midterms and exhibit openings and frantic (long overdue) housecleaning. I'm pretty sure this last hour I've spent hanging out with my laptop is the longest I've sat down in days, exam-taking stretches notwithstanding.

Which is why it is especially cool to be paging through [ profile] svmadelyn 's Valentine's Day Game, idly reveling in the collective happy, and find my own name out of the blue. I got my very own instant shot of warm fuzzies, complete with big, uncontrollable grin. So, whoever you are, oh anonymous valentine-giver:

*hugs* Thanks. You totally made my week.

Prompts! Give me a fandom (or a couple) and something to go with it (word, quote, setting, favorite fruit), and I'll see what I can do.

Shows I currently love with big, squishy love include: Merlin, SPN, Life, Leverage, NCIS, Burn Notice, Psych... and probably a whole bunch more I'm forgetting. Feel free to ask. (I'm really, really behind in SGA canon, though. Like, tragically.)

ETA: As [ profile] shetiger  pointed out, I am ambiguous by nature. That "or a couple" above = anything you would like it to; I'll take a couple of fandoms, or a couple in a fandom, or a couple of couples in a couple of fandoms, or a couple that spans two fandoms, or...  pretty much whatever. I'm easy. *g*

Because I am sick, and should be studying, and have very little brain at the moment, I have only this to say:

Here lie spoilers, of course. )
stillane: (Default)
Having been lured in by promises of unadulterated fun and incredible slashiness, my guilty pleasure of the week has been to catch up with pretty, anachronistic, (British? Can we say they're British? Albionan? *ponders*) legendary boys gallivanting about a mythical countryside.

All in all, I have reached two conclusions:

1. My god, they really are that slashtastic. *marvels gleefully*

2. I can no longer trust programming originating from across the Atlantic.

My thoughts, let me show you them. There may be spoilers for everything Merlin-related, btw. )
stillane: (Default)
Thinky thoughts to follow tomorrow - because yes, there are actual thoughts this time around (nobody faint) - but for now:

Yeah. Spoilers. Whee! )
stillane: (Default)

Not really a spoiler. Just a reaction. )

ETA: Nevermind. Comments are bound to be spoilery in the extreme, I think. Look away, innocent types.

stillane: (Default)

They killed my show.

I... I've really got nothing else to say. I'm just blank. What the fuck?

And I thought Eureka was the one that would break my heart this week.

Via [personal profile] eccentric_hat... Go check out the LJ Markov Random Text Generator. Mine came up with:

What does it mean when randomly scrambling up your words gets something almost coherent? Is this like those songs that give messages when played backwards? Am I being subliminally controlled by my own brain?
stillane: (Default)
So... I  can't have been the only person to watch Ice Age 2 and think, Sid and Diego. Huh

Please tell me I'm not the only person.

(In my defense... okay. No. Don't have one. But there were moony eyes, people. On a Smilodon.)
stillane: (Default)

Okay. So.

I was going to have con notes and pictures up tonight, and maybe a report on all the gloriously crazy stuff that's been going on this week, but... Well, I woke up this morning unable to get my head past medial position without lots and lots of pain. I'm pretty pain-tolerant, most of the time, but this is just annoying. I made embarrassing whimpery sounds while trying to brush my hair, and hauled myself into work, where I spent about an hour very carefully not moving in front of a computer screen before my boss caught me and said, "Home. Now. With drugs."

Ibuprofen ain't touching it, a hot shower was no help, and I've got enough Bengay on my neck to numb a rhino. Although, on the plus side, that particular product always makes me think of due South, so... heh.

I'd really like to know what the hell I did, specifically for the purpose of never, ever doing it again. (Not, as my sister suggested, for planning out ways to inflict it on other people. She's a little evil, that one. I'm so proud.) I just went to bed great, and woke up ow.

In apology for not having anything actually cool to say, I will leave you with this picture:

mwahaha )

Have returned home. Got stuck at the Ancestral Home last night, which meant about two hours' sleep and then back on the road this morning to get into work on time, so am very, very tired. Have now eaten and am preparing to pass out. But:

Shore Leave!!! Hewletts!!! Mark Sheppard!!! LJ people of extreme awesomeness!!! Penguin!!! Wheeeeeeeee!!!

Will eventually have pictures and possibly goofy stories to tell, after passing out has ceased. *g*
stillane: (Default)
Hi! So, just in case you didn't know, I'm headed to Shore Leave tomorrow, which means several things.[Poll #1221252]
I figure I'll be at all things Hewlett-oriented, and probably circulating around with wide-eyed glee the rest of the time. Please say hi, if you're so inclined. Just don't tell me about the SGA premier; I've been really good until now, and will likely cover my spoiler-virgin ears and sing show tunes loudly to myself if you try. Nobody wants that.
