And I thought I'd get more time online once I went solo again. *sigh* For your convenience, I give you lists of the week's doings.

1. I am melancholy, and very nearly 23. These facts are connected largely by a third: this will be my first birthday with no family participation. Everybody's been crazy getting my sister and I situated these last few weeks, and I don't have time to drive home, and I don't have the heart to make anyone drive here... end result: not so much with the birthdayness. In the meantime, I keep trying to convince the Mom that I'm fine, and not at all bummed, because there's not a thing she could do about it except feel guilty, which I'm trying to avoid at all costs. Oh well. Next year.

Tonight, I will light candles around the house and maybe bake brownies. Well, maybe not. It's kind of hot here. Hm. The point remains that there will be confections and open flame. The traditions of natal celebration will be hereby upheld.

Thus endeth the pity party. *g*

2. Still no luck with the soulless bastards who control net access. I'm getting creative about this whole thing, though. Earlier this week, I wound up at Borders to do the daily check in, and the place has exactly one well designed seat for computer use, located next to an outlet. I was not in that seat. My power was on its last legs. I ended up camped out in the aisle between pregnancy texts and tomes on New Age self-actualization. Let me tell you, you haven't lived until you've downloaded slash while hippies and pregnant women circulate around you.

3.
Also entertaining this week: sheep wrestling for the short! There is, it seems, a trick to getting a sheep to behave itself for inspection/medically necessary prodding. It involves lifting the head and straddling the shoulders. Our problem - my lab partner's and mine - was that we were in the final group to attack the sheep. We got the rejects; those that were too ornery, large, or otherwise wily to be cornered earlier. And then we grabbed a fine specimen showcasing all of these qualities. And then I found out that, while I could in fact straddle said sheep, it was a little bit difficult to keep the head up when my feet wouldn't stay down. It was somewhere around lap 2 of the holding pen and the beginning of my career as a mutton buster that I realized I might be in for a difficult time. *g*

4. There is no four. There was going to be, but then I forgot. Sorry.

5. Still open for any and all recs. They make my cable-less, internet challenged world go round. I am not an addict. I can stop any time I want. No, really. *looks shifty*

6. How are you?

*peers at her clock*

Ok, this makes me mostly early still then, which is a change from being late. Happy Birthday you. :) *sqqqqqqueezze*

I've done many a birthday on my own, in fact my 21st birthday was celebrated by me eating dinner and reading a novel. Such a riveting person I am. Just think, there will be many more of them with people around and well, do something nice for yourself even if the family can't be there. Certainly they are thinking of you.

*snerk* Ah, the joy of sheep wrangling. I remember doing that. I also remember being dragged around the shed by said sheep because I was at that point a light thing and could be dragged. Now the sheep would probably put its back out. Perhaps I should go into sheep wrangling? Clearly, this would be a good job prospect with a history degree.... apart from the fact that sheep are kinda making no money and we are in a drought.. but meh.

So, first off: Thank you! *squeezes back*

Second: Hey, it's you! It seems like I haven't heard from you in a while, what with all the scurrying around and internet oddity. How've you been? Aside from the drought, which I assume goes along with all the heat you're generally not too fond of.

Certainly they are thinking of you.

This is true. I spent much of the day on the phone with various and sundry loved ones, and that made it much better. Add to that the ability to eat a seriously decadent slice of cake solo and lounge around in pjs all day, and it wasn't half bad. *g*

You, too, have sheep wrangled? Hee. We could form a club. Or possibly you have the right idea: how do you feel about a partner in that professional sheep wrangling career you have planned? I admit, the vet thing throws off the whole degree oddity balance, but I was an English major, too. Can that count?

Oh, sheep. Gotta love 'em. *g*

Well, not hearing from me has to be alll... your internet's fault. I am around and about in a disorganised and milling fashion, as evidenced by the random spate of posting from yesterday. Just trying to find time amongst working in the library (omgsoboring) to write my thesis (ARGH) and you know, read those novella type things. Attempting to keep up some level of drawing more mittant than intermittant.... translate all this to read as I am bored with my life and stone cold broke. In other words, deadly dull is me.

You do realise we just came out of winter? :P *grin* So it is early spring here and not hot, but alas still in drought. Seasons do not matter when it comes to lack of water. For early spring (and technically still winter) I have to go and water my poor plants. The daffodils are looking parched.

See, told you so! There is a certain luxury to just cuddling up and being a complete lazy person with good reason and encouragement. Sometimes phone calls can be just as fun as fending off the minions family. As long as it isn't every year and all, the change can be... enjoyable. Mmm cake.

Ah! Country girl from Australia here. I have sheep wrangled. I have milked cows, droved cows/sheep, helped birth calves, fed calves, fenced, ridden.... and I wasn't even raised on a farm :P Hmm... sheep wrangling is always easier with two people. You're hired! We could... go centre to where all the sheep are and offer our services to the properties. I mean who wouldn't want a sheep wrangling, arts majoring, vet and wannabe vet helping them? No one! Bring sunscreen :P

*shakes head* Sheep, not the smartest creatures in the world but... hehe. Bless their ... woolen socks. :P
